We had about 10 days of a snow covered roof and daytime temperatures below freezing, and we got almost no power from our solar system. Then, the temperature started climbing, but the sky was still overcast. The output power went up but was still low. Finally, today is a sunny day with daytime temps in the mid 40s (F), the snow is gone, and we're getting, relatively speaking, a lot of energy from our system.
Yesterday, my wife happened to be looking out the window when the snow decided to have some fun. A huge piece of snow slid down the cells and went past the window and formed a pile on the ground. My wife exclaimed, "The snow is sliding off the roof". We had hoped that would happen, but I was skeptical that the roof had enough pitch to let gravity do its thing. Its nice to have gravity, as well as the sun, on our side.
